Refund Policy

Last updated October 19, 2026

Datasense has a free plan and a 14-day free trial on paid plans, so you can try everything before you pay. Because of that, payments are not refundable once you have used the service in the period you paid for. This page explains exactly what that means, the few cases where we do refund, and how to cancel.

1. Try before you pay

  • The Hobby plan is free and has no time limit.
  • The Pro and Team plans start with a 14-day free trial. You aren't charged during the trial. Cancel before it ends from Dashboard → Billing and you will never be charged.
  • When the trial ends, the subscription renews monthly until you cancel.

2. No refunds after use

All subscription fees are non-refundable once the service has been used during the billing period the payment covers. You have “used the service” if, after the charge, any of these happened on your account:

  • Datasense recorded pageviews, events, errors, payments or bot visits for any of your sites;
  • you or anyone with access to your account signed in to the dashboard or viewed reports;
  • you exported data, used the API, or added or changed a site or a proxy domain.

Our infrastructure costs start the moment events arrive, and analytics already delivered can't be taken back, which is why we don't refund used periods.

3. When we do refund

We give a full refund of the affected charge when:

  • You didn't use the service: you ask within 7 days of the charge and nothing in section 2 happened on your account since that charge. A common case is forgetting to cancel a trial and removing the script beforehand.
  • You were charged twice for the same plan and period.
  • You were charged after cancelling, because of a fault on our side or our payment provider's.
  • You were charged the wrong amount. We refund the difference.

4. What isn't refunded

  • Partial months, or the rest of a period after you cancel or downgrade.
  • Unused pageview allowance or sites.
  • Renewals you forgot to cancel, once the service has been used after the renewal.
  • Periods in which we suspended or closed your account for breaking our Terms of Service.
  • Downtime or missing data. We work hard to avoid both, and may offer a service credit at our discretion, but they aren't grounds for a cash refund.
  • Disagreement with a feature, a price change you were told about in advance, or changing your mind after using the service.

5. Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from Dashboard → Billing → Manage billing. There are no cancellation fees. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, nothing is charged after that, and your account moves to the free Hobby plan. Cancelling doesn't refund the current period.

6. Plan changes

Plan changes take effect immediately and are prorated by our payment provider. Moving to a cheaper plan never produces a cash refund for the time already paid.

7. How to ask for a refund

Email [email protected] from the address on your Datasense account within 7 days of the charge, with the invoice or order number from your receipt and the reason. We reply within 3 business days. We check eligibility against your account's usage records.

Approved refunds are paid by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record, to the original payment method. They usually show up within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank. Taxes collected on the charge are refunded with it.

8. Chargebacks

Please contact us before disputing a charge with your bank; we can usually resolve billing problems faster. If a chargeback is filed for a period in which the service was used, we will provide our usage records to the payment provider, and we may suspend the account until the dispute is settled.

9. Your statutory rights

Nothing in this policy limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be excluded by contract. If you live in the EU, the UK or another place with a right to withdraw from online purchases: by starting a paid subscription you ask us to begin providing the service straight away, and you acknowledge that you lose that right once the service has been used, as described in section 2. Where the law still gives you a refund, we will pay it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Changes apply to charges made after the new version is published, and we'll email you about material changes. This policy is part of our Terms of Service.
