Mixpanel is built for product teams who want funnels, retention and cohorts inside their app. Datasense is built for website traffic: who visits, where they come from, what they read and what breaks. They solve different problems.
Free up to 10k pageviews a month. No card.
If you're tracking how users move through a product after they sign up, Mixpanel is the right tool. If you want to know how your website and marketing are doing, Datasense is simpler and can run without cookies.
Side by side, on the things people ask about most. Checked against Mixpanel's own site in October 2026.

Mixpanel works best when you plan which events to track and who the users are. Datasense tracks pageviews, sources, countries and devices on its own. You only add goals for the few actions you care about.
Mixpanel's web SDK uses a cookie by default to remember users. Datasense also uses a first-party cookie by default, can switch to cookieless with one setting, and never stores raw IP addresses.
Datasense also keeps the last 100 JavaScript errors on your site. Mixpanel doesn't track web errors, so you'd need a separate tool.
Mixpanel is free for 1M events a month. Past that, its Growth plan is priced by event volume. Datasense is free up to 10k pageviews, $9 a month for 100k and $29 a month for 1M pageviews.
It takes about five minutes, and you don't have to turn anything off on day one.
Create a free account and paste one script tag into your site's <head>. Leave Mixpanel where it is for now.
Compare visitors, top pages and sources. Datasense often shows more visitors once the proxy is on, because ad blockers stop blocking it.
When you're happy, delete the Mixpanel snippet. Export your old data from Mixpanel first if you want to keep it.
Or see all web analytics tools on one page.
Add one script tag, compare the numbers, then keep the one you like. The free plan is enough to test it.
