Session Replay Linked Directly to Traffic, Errors & Revenue

Charts tell you that visitors left. A replay shows you why. Datasense records what visitors see and do on your pages, and links each recording to the visitor's source, errors, form answers and payments, so you can jump from a number to the session behind it.

What session replay shows you

The page, not a video

Replays rebuild the page from its HTML and play back clicks, scrolls and typing as they happened. They stay sharp at any size and are light to store.

One click from an error or an answer

On the Errors page, each recorded occurrence links to its replay, starting just before the error. Form responses link to the session of the visitor who answered.

Next to the whole journey

Each recording sits in the visitor's profile with their pages, source, goals and payments, so you see the session in context, not on its own.

Private by default

Every input, textarea and select value is masked, always. Canvas, cross-origin iframes, console output and network requests aren't recorded. Add a class to mask or hide anything else.

How to turn on session replay

  1. Step 1

    Start a Pro trial

Session replay is on Pro and Team. Pro comes with a 14-day free trial and 5k recordings a month.

  2. Step 2

    Switch it on

Turn it on in Settings → Session replay, then add data-replay="true" to your script tag. The recorder loads after the page, so it never holds up the first paint.

  3. Step 3

    Watch recordings

The Replays page lists every recorded session with its first page, how many pages and clicks it had, and how long it lasted. Click one to play it.

What it doesn't do

So you know before you sign up.

  • It's on Pro (5k recordings a month) and Team (50k). The free plan doesn't include it.
  • Recordings are kept 30 days. Past the monthly limit, new recordings stop until the 1st, and analytics keeps working.
  • The recorder is about 36 KB gzipped and loads on top of the main script.
  • There are no heatmaps, and no rage-click or dead-click detection.
  • The Replays list itself isn't filtered. To find a specific session, start from an error, a form answer, or the Visitors list, which takes the same page and source filters as the dashboard.

Questions people ask

The recorder (about 36 KB gzipped) only loads when your tag has data-replay="true", and it loads after the page. The main analytics script stays under 4 KB.
