How Datasense counts visitors, sessions and bounce rate
Definitions of every number on the Datasense dashboard: visitors, pageviews, sessions, bounce rate, session duration, conversion rate and revenue.
| Metric | What it counts |
|---|---|
| Visitors | Unique visitor IDs with a pageview in the range. Cookie script: one per browser for up to 400 days. Cookieless: one per browser per day. |
| Pageviews | Page loads and client-side route changes. |
| Sessions | Visits. A session ends after 30 minutes without activity (cookie script) or when the tab closes (cookieless). |
| Bounce rate | Sessions with exactly one pageview, as a share of all sessions. |
| Session duration | The longer of the time between a session's first and last event and the time the tab was visible, averaged. |
| Revenue | Payments in the range, net of refunds, in the site's reporting currency. |
| Customers | Visitors whose first payment (not a renewal or trial) fell in the range. |
| Conversion rate | Customers divided by visitors. |
| Revenue per visitor | Revenue divided by visitors. |
