How to Boost Conversion Rates Using Targeted Session Replays

Stop guessing why visitors bounce on your pricing page. Watch the recordings behind JavaScript errors, form answers, and visitor journeys to see where buyers get stuck.

3 min read

Your dashboard says most visitors on your pricing page never reach checkout. It can't say why. Watching a few of those visits usually can: a button below the fold, a confusing plan table, a form that rejects a valid card.

Why this matters

Small problems on the pages closest to money cost the most. They're rarely bugs, so nothing flags them. You only find them by seeing what visitors actually did.

Why most analytics tools can't tell you

Replay tools record sessions but don't know where visitors came from or whether they paid. Analytics tools know that but can't show the session. So you end up watching random recordings instead of the ones that matter.

How Datasense does it

On Pro and Team, the same Datasense script that counts your visitors records their sessions. Each recording is linked from the visitor's profile next to their source, pages, goals and payments, from every recorded JavaScript error, and from every form response, so you can start from a problem and go straight to the session behind it.

How to do it

  1. 1Turn on session replay in Settings → Session replay and add data-replay="true" to your script tag.
  2. 2In the dashboard, filter to your pricing or checkout page to see how many visitors reach it and where they came from.
  3. 3Open Visitors with the same filter, pick visitors who saw the page but didn't pay, and play their recorded sessions from their profile.
  4. 4Open the Errors page and watch the replay of any error on that page, starting just before it happened.

Watch five sessions before you change anything. One odd visit is noise. The same stumble three times is a fix.

Turn it into action

  • If visitors scroll past your main button without clicking, move it up or repeat it.
  • If visitors stop at the same field, simplify it or explain what it needs.
  • Fix the errors that show up in the sessions of visitors who didn't convert first.
In a hurry? Connect your AI assistant with the Datasense MCP server and ask: “Which JavaScript errors happened on my pricing and checkout pages this week, and how many visitors did they hit?”

Good to know

  • Session replay is on Pro and Team, and recordings are kept 30 days.
  • There are no heatmaps or rage-click detection. You find problems by watching sessions.
