LogRocket vs. Datasense: Session Replay & Error Monitoring Compared

LogRocket records sessions along with network requests, console logs and app state, which makes it great for debugging complex front ends. It's priced by recorded sessions. Datasense is the affordable alternative for indie and SaaS teams: session replay and JavaScript errors next to your traffic, goals and revenue, on flat monthly plans.

What's different, in plain words

Price

LogRocket's Core plan starts at about $83 a month for 10k sessions, billed yearly. Datasense Pro is $9 a month for 5k recordings and 50k analytics events, and Team is $49 a month for 50k recordings.

What a replay contains

LogRocket captures network requests, console logs and app state with each session, which helps when you debug. Datasense replays the page and what the visitor did, and leaves out console output and network requests on purpose.

Analytics around the replay

Datasense is web analytics first. Each recording links from the visitor's source, pages, goals and payments, and from the error or form answer it belongs to, so marketing and product can use the same tool.

Pricing

LogRocket has a free plan with 1k sessions a month. Core starts at about $83 a month for 10k sessions on yearly billing, and Pro is required above 100k sessions. Datasense is free up to 5k events without replay, $9 a month for 50k events and 5k recordings, and $49 a month for 200k events and 50k recordings.

How to switch from LogRocket

It takes about five minutes, and you don't have to turn anything off on day one.

  1. Step 1

    Add the Datasense script

Create a free account and paste one script tag into your site's <head>. Leave LogRocket where it is for now.

  2. Step 2

    Run both for a week

Compare visitors, top pages and sources. Datasense often shows more visitors once the proxy is on, because ad blockers stop blocking it.

  3. Step 3

    Remove LogRocket

When you're happy, delete the LogRocket snippet. Export your old data from LogRocket first if you want to keep it.
