Native Feedback Forms & Surveys Built Into Your Web Analytics

Tally is a form builder with a generous free plan: logic, payments, file uploads and signatures, shared by link or embedded. Datasense forms do one thing: ask your visitors a quick question on the page they're on, and put the answer next to your analytics, so you know who said it and what they did.

Free up to 5k events a month. No card.

The short answer

Tally is the better tool for real forms: signups, applications, orders and anything with many fields. Datasense is the better tool for quick on-site feedback that you want to read next to traffic, revenue and session replays.

Pick Datasense if

  • You want feedback tied to the visitor's profile and replay
  • You want surveys and analytics from one script tag
  • You want forms that trigger on scroll, click or exit intent on chosen pages
  • You don't want to build and share a separate form

Pick Tally if

  • You need forms with many fields, logic, payments or file uploads
  • You want to share forms by link or embed them in a page
  • You need form submissions sent to your other tools

What's different, in plain words

A form builder vs a quick question

Tally builds full forms with logic, payments and uploads. A Datasense form has up to 2 questions, stars, a choice or text, and shows as a corner popup or full screen on the pages you choose.

Who answered

Tally shows you the submission. Datasense shows the answer with the visitor's country, device and profile, their source, pages and payments, and a link to their session replay when it was recorded.

One tool

With Tally you still need analytics to know where visitors came from. Datasense's forms load from the analytics script you already have, and the widget only loads when a form is live.

Pricing

Tally is free for unlimited forms and submissions under fair use. Pro is $29 a month billed monthly ($24 billed yearly). Datasense forms are on every plan, including the free one, which also covers analytics up to 5k events a month. Pro is $9 a month and Team $49 a month.

How to switch from Tally

It takes about five minutes, and you don't have to turn anything off on day one.

  1. Step 1

    Add the Datasense script

Create a free account and paste one script tag into your site's <head>. Leave Tally where it is for now.

  2. Step 2

    Run both for a week

Compare visitors, top pages and sources. Datasense often shows more visitors once the proxy is on, because ad blockers stop blocking it.

  3. Step 3

    Remove Tally

When you're happy, delete the Tally snippet. Export your old data from Tally first if you want to keep it.

Questions people ask

For quick on-site feedback, yes. For full forms with many fields, logic, payments or file uploads, Tally or Typeform is the better pick.

Run Datasense next to Tally for a week

Add one script tag, compare the numbers, then keep the one you like. The free plan is enough to test it.
